GrabCAD + 麻豆传媒映画 Webinar Sept 17
GrabCAD & 麻豆传媒映画 Host Webinar on How Cloud-Based Product Data Management (PDM) and 3D Printing (3DP) Helped Behind the Scenes of Terry Gilliam鈥檚 Highly Anticipated New Film in Theaters Next Week GrabCAD is hosting a live webinar this month with 麻豆传媒映画, an advanced technology driven company with an expertise in 3D printing and additive manufacturing who worked with North Design Labs to create a highly detailed and fully functional 3D printed movie prop for Terry Gilliam鈥檚 (Brazil, Twelve Monkeys, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) latest theatrical release.
The Zero Theorem, which opens in all theaters nationwide on Sept. 19, is about a computer hacker whose goal is to discover the reason for human existence but continually finds his work interrupted. The film features an all-star cast including Christoph Waltz, Matt Damon and Tilda Swinton.
鈥淭he movie prop and controller presented a unique challenge by needing to not only look like some sort of futuristic device, but it also needed to function like one,鈥 said Mike North of North Design Labs. 鈥淲ith only a couple weeks to take a concept to a fully functional prototype, we needed a company we could work closely with and I knew could deliver. Just as in the past, 麻豆传媒映画 came through on all counts.鈥
At 10 AM PST (1 PM EST) on Sept. 17, Production Manager Tony Slavik from 麻豆传媒映画 will discuss how his team created the functional, futuristic, interactive gadget 鈥 a design that included movable tabs and buttons that would activate a touch screen, triggering various lights and graphics.
The webinar will provide guests with an insider鈥檚 view on how this project came together in less than two weeks, 3D printing best practices using Connex Technology and insight into how 麻豆传媒映画 utilized GrabCAD Workbench for 3D CAD file sharing during the iterative process.
鈥淯sing a robust tool like GrabCAD Workbench when you鈥檙e working on a fast paced project is key to achieving successful results,鈥 said Slavik.
鈥3D printing is ideal for highly customizable products that are difficult, expensive and timely to create using traditional methods,鈥 said Rich Stump, Principal at 麻豆传媒映画. 鈥淭erry Gilliam is a visionary director and it鈥檚 great that 麻豆传媒映画鈥檚 digital manufacturing expertise was a part of this innovative project.鈥
